Sustainable Design Assessments (SDA) or Environmental Sustainable Design (ESD) assessments are reports usually required by town planning departments. These reports are used to demonstrate how a project will comply with the local government laws.
SDA and ESD assessments are typically done by a tool called BESS. This system requires a certain amount of points to meet compliance, points are award by additional Sustainable Design features committed to by the project. As part of this process all aspects of the building are considered from building thermal performance, electrical appliance efficiencies, water appliance efficiency, building management, daylighting to habitable rooms, water sensitive urban designs, waste management, site vegetation, solar panels and much more.
All local councils have different SDA laws and requirements, we advise you speak with your building designer or directly to your town planning department to confirm if a SDA report is required for your project.
We have many years providing SDA reports for residential and commercial buildings of many shapes and sizes, please contact us today for enquiries and pricing.
